Choosing A Memorial

This guide will answer some of the most common asked questions. We feel this information will help you and your family begin the journey of creating a tribute based on your taste and budget.

Choosing a memorial involves only two main decisions:

1.  Choosing the actual physical memorial. You can choose a style, color, shape and finish of the memorial that you and your family like; choosing a budget range in which you feel comfortable. While these choices have thousands of options, they are fairly straight forward and easy to understand.

 2. Choosing Memories. You can choose the lettering, carving and design you and your family like. This process is very creative and is based on the memories and meaning that you want to convey. The most important reason for a memorial can be summed up as our internal need to remember. Life is a tapestry of memories, celebrated moments, love and sharing. Remembering and reflecting on your cherished memories provides options for personalizing your memorial.  Unique designs can be created to give a personal touch to your memorial forever.

Most families have the wrong impression that if you personalize your memorial it is going to cost more. That statement is not true when working with our company. You have freedom to choose from many carvings, lettering styles, and designs with no additional costs.

Price is determined by three main factors:

 1. Color - The color of granite varies the price of a memorial by more than any other factor. You can double the price of a memorial just by changing the color. The color of granite that you choose will depend on your personal taste and your budget. All our granites are guaranteed to last forever.

 2. Size - Size is based on your taste and budget. If you double the size of a memorial you don’t double the price. Changing the size by 100% will usually change the price by a factor of 65%. The larger the memorial, the more we are able to make the lettering and carving more legible and the more visually pleasing the memorial becomes. The most common error is families choose way too much information on a memorial that is too small. While we sometimes can perform design miracles, often times their information just won’t fit.

 3. Finish - Finish is related to the time and effort put into the physical aspects of the stone. A polished surface has more time and workmanship involved than a natural rough surface. Straight cuts are easier than curved. However, technology today has made changes in shape or finishes very affordable. The style, shape, and finish you choose can be changed to satisfy your taste and budget.
