Thompson Monuments offers a variety of candle options for our eternal light housings. Often we field questions from customers about which candle is best. All of our candles have different features which make them ideal for different situations. To help you decide which candle option would work best for you, we offer a comparison of our candles below.
- Traditional Wax Candle: Our traditional wax candles are ideal for those who make frequent trips to their loved one’s gravesite. Our wax candles are designed to burn from 5-7 days, and are ideal for those who desire to keep up a constant, day and night vigil of candlelight for their loved one. We offer 6” Wax Candles for our cemetery lanterns, as well as 8” Wax Candles for our more traditional eternal lights.
- Throw Away Battery Candle: Our Throw Away Battery Candles are a good option for customers who are not able to make it out to a gravesite on a weekly basis to re-light another candle. These candles burn day and night, and offer a warm, yellow glow. Designed to burn approximately 30 days, these candles do not have replaceable batteries, and are discarded once they quit lighting.
-Red Flicker Battery Candle: Thompson Monuments now offers a Red Flicker Battery Candle. This candle differs from the Throw Away Battery Candle, in that its batteries are replaceable. The Red Flicker Candle will work in any of our cemetery lights, and provides a constant flicker of red light, day and night for up to 6 months on a single “C” battery.
-Off/On Battery Candle: Our Off/On Battery Candle differs from our Red Flicker Candle in several ways. Rather than a flickering light, the Off/On Battery Candle gives off a constant glow in your choice of Red, Amber, Blue, or Green. We highly recommend choosing the color that corresponds to the colored cylinder in your eternal light housing.
This candle features a light sensor, that will turn the light off during the day, and turn it on at night, thus saving on battery usage. Designed to run on 3 AA batteries, the Off/On Battery Candle will run for more than 60 days, before replacement batteries are needed.
-Off/On Solar Candle- The Off/On Solar Candle is perhaps the most maintenance free candle we offer. Like the Off/On Battery Candle, the Solar version features a constant glow in your choice of Red, Amber Blue of Green. We highly recommend choosing the color that corresponds to the colored cylinder in your eternal light housing.
This unit also features a light sensor, which means the candle will be lit at night, but will turn off during the day to conserve on battery usage. This unit uses 3 rechargeable AA batteries, which are recharged by the solar panel attached to the candle unit. The rechargeable batteries require replacement every 2-3 years. Customers should be aware that these candles need to be positioned so that they are receiving full sunlight. Without daily sun exposure, the candle will not light in the evenings.
